OMOTOLA'S TV DEBUT IN THE US

Nigeria’s screen goddess, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde’s appearance on the world’s movie circuit took shape as she made her debut in a television drama series, Hit The Floor, in the United States yesterday.

She starred alongside Hollywood A-list actor, Kimberly Elise and hip-hop superstar Akon.Written and produced by James LaRosa, Hit The Floor is an American drama television series which follows Ahsha, a girl who joins the NBA cheerleading team the Los Angeles Devil Girls, unaware of the treacherous and tempting world that follows.

Omotola, was in April named one of the most influential people by Time Magazine.

$500M has been sold to stabilise Naira- CBN

Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, yesterday sold $500 million at the bi-weekly foreign exchange auction to forestall depreciation of the naira.

The amount sold represents 66 percent increase when compared to $300 million sold per previous foreign exchange auctions. The increase represents a strong signal from the apex bank about its determination to stabilise the naira.

However, despite this increase, the naira depreciated by 10 kobo at the inter-bank foreign exchange market yesterday.

From N159 per dollar, the interbank exchange rate rose slightly to N159.10 per dollar. But at the official market, the naira remained stable, as the official exchange rate remained N155.75 per dollar

70 new roads approved for construction in Lagos State-Fashola

LAGOS — Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, said 70 new roads had been approved and awarded for construction and rehabilitation in the state, even as the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, deplored the poor state of the Federal High Court in Lagos Island, saying “it is in its old self.”

Fashola who spoke during a courtesy call on him by the NBA, Lagos Branch and Ikeja, led by Mr. Monday Ubani and Mr. Taiwo Taiwo, said the contract had increased the number of awarded road contracts since the commencement of the second term of his administration to 230.

According to him: “We set ourselves the target in the second term to complete about 450 roads. Last year, we awarded about 160 roads. This year, we have awarded about 70 roads. This signifies our intention this year that we are more concerned about road construction.

“We have already completed about half of the roads we set out to achieve. But again, we can only award that much if we were able to complete much. That was why this year’s project was based on completing the roads in the state. The decision making for which road to deal with first, is based on the road that carries the most traffic.

“The need continuously outstrips the source and so also they outstrip the capacity. And what we have done this year was to identify the roads that needed urgent repair. And these are continuous engagement and undertaking from the state government. They will never finish in the tenure or life of any government.

2FACE, WIZKID OTHERS MISS DBANJ'S DKM CONCERT

Dbanj’s DKM concert successfully went down at the Eko hotel and suites, the event kicked off a little later than scheduled – due to the football match being played (Nigeria VS Spain).

The concert served as the launch of his DB Records debut compilation album ‘D’ King’s Men‘ and saw performances from D’banj, Kay Switch, rappers Olamide, Naeto C, Phyno and Pop artiste KCEE. Other performers included DJ Zeez and upcomers Sean Tizzle, Omo Akin, Ace and Pepsol.

CHRIS BROWN ASSAULTS ANOTHER FEMALE

 

Chris Brown has being accused of assaulting a female inside a night club, sending the woman to the hospital. According to TMZ, 24-year-old Deanna Gines, claimed she was in VIP with Chris Brown in an Orange County nightclub after his show in Anaheim. When the bar was about to close, Deanna (inset) claimed Chris Brown roughly and deliberately shoved her to the ground and she fell hard on her knees…. She told TMZ.

Deanna was taken to the hospital and treated for torn ligaments in her right knee that may require surgery. A police report has been filed and an investigation has been opened.

Chris Brown has denied any wrong doing, Tweeting "I didn't do anything".

Kim says YES to Kanye after she gives birth to their daughter North'

Reports are coming in that Kim finally said “Yes” to Kanye and the couple are planning a September wedding in Paris.

The couple began dating in 2012 and welcomed a baby girl named North on June 15. U.K. tabloid The Sun reports that West got down on his knee after baby North arrived and Kardashian said "yes".

GOOD GESTURE FROM STAR- TUFACE IDIBIA

 
OJB JEZREEL aka Jigga man has been in the news for a while now seeking donations to the tune of 15million Naira from worthy individuals around the globe and in Nigeria particularly towards his kidney transplant due to take place in India.

News reaching us suggests that Tuface Idibia who recently released his single track has donated 1.5 million Naira to his one time producer OJB Jezreel. Jezreel produced his all time track - "African queen". People think this is not enough, considering the success of the track.Others think that was very thoughtful of the music star since he must have paid the producer for his good job at the time.

Other artist who i hear may have donated or committed to donate to this cause are Don Jazzy (1 million naira) and Ruggedman.(amount unconfirmed) 

Above all, i think Tuface's gesture is one worthy of emulation by all. Especially in this era when artist will be the first to sing a "We miss you" song at the demise of their colleagues.

Zara Hartshorn, from Rotherham, south Yorkshire, inherited this illness, which makes her skin appear wrinkled and twisted (left), from her mother Tracey. 

She has been through years of cruel taunts at school because of her looks. But she's only 16 she says. Among the names she has had to endure are 'monkey and 'granny'. Zara was even confused as a teacher and once made to get off a bus because she could not prove she was eligible for a child's ticket.

ASIANS AND AFRICANS MUST PAY £3000 BEFORE ENTERING THE UK

Theresa May, the British home secretary has announced that visitors from 'high risk' countries in Africa and Asia will have to pay a £3,000 cash bond to enter Britain.

This pilot scheme, introduced by Home Secretary Theresa May, will target hundreds of people coming to Britain on six-month visit visas from the following ‘high Risk’ countries:- India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The Pilot scheme will later be extended to cover work permits and student visas

Speaking before their final Group B match against Spain at the Estadio Castelao, Stephen Keshi said the experience had proved invaluable for the African champions even if they are eliminated on Sunday.
