Governor Rochas Okorocha Denies Legalising Abortion In Imo State

''The bill, which made provision for the termination of a foetus in cases of incest or rape, did not legalise abortion''.-Rochas Okorocha

Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo has said that the bill currently in the House of Assembly is not for the legalisation of abortion. Okorocha said this when he reacted to reports that the state government had legalised abortion in Owerri on Friday

He explained that the bill would eliminate violence in private and public life, prohibit all forms of violence, including sexual, psychological, domestic and harmful traditional practices.

Aero passenger causes scare onboard, speaks in tongues

Barely one week after a teenage boy, Daniel Ohikena caused a scare at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, MMA, Lagos when he stowed on an Arik Air plane from Benin to Lagos, another scare occurred yesterday at the same airport when a female passenger, whose identity could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, was said to have boarded the plane screamed on top of her voice that she was no longer willing to travel with the plane after boarding the flight.

According to Saturday Mirror investigations, the cabin crew and passengers initially ignored her. But her persistence led to suspicion among the passengers.

Contrary to the expectations of President Goodluck Jonathan and his aides who have been accusing Speaker of the House of Reps, Aminu Tambuwa, of associating with their "enemies", Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday took a different stand. He said he is happy and very proud of the way Speaker Tambuwal has been leading the House of Representatives.

In what some say is an open endorsement for Tambuwal's future ambition, Obasanjo said:

“I like you, in fact I love you, please go ahead with what you are doing at the National Assembly. I am behind you. I am a principled person and I like the way you run the affairs of the House of Representatives.”

Nigerians woke up on Sunday 25 August, 2013 to learn of a stowaway teenage boy, Daniel Ohikhena, who flew with Arik’s flight W3 544 from Benin to Lagos, thinking the plane was US-bound! Daniel, probably, had fantasised of life in far away America, watched films where some movie stars in a feign show of bravado, stowaway precariously on fast moving cars and aircrafts, chose to be the hero in reality, difficult to tell if he was oblivious of the risk his bluster involved, how far a flight from Benin to US was, or how he planned to survive extreme weather conditions.

Only the intrepid adolescent had the answers to these questions. As mother luck would have it, the flight was Lagos-bound.

Paul Yempe, who passed himself off as a journalist working for the US-based Cable News Network (CNN), succeeded in swindling key officials of the Bayelsa State government.

The fraudster obtained various sums of money running into millions of naira from state officials who were desperate to receive favorable coverage about the state beset by rising insecurity and incessant kidnappings.

The $17.5m salary is a big leap from the $12m paycheck J-Lo was handed for her first season of Idol in 2011. For her second season she was given a $3m raise to $15m.

It was reported last year that when Jennifer asked for another $2m raise to come back for her third season the Idol producers refused and she walked.

U.N. Chemical Weapons Inspectors Leave Syria, Is a US Airstrike Imminent?

The United States made clear on Friday that it would punish Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for the "brutal and flagrant" chemical weapons attack that it says killed more than 1,400 people in Damascus last week.

"We cannot accept a world where women and children and innocent civilians are gassed on a terrible scale," President Barack Obama told reporters at the White House.

He said the United States was still in the planning process for a "limited, narrow" military response that would not involve "boots on the ground" or be open-ended. He set no timetable for action.

Amanda Hein, 26, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, has been charged with murder after admitting to killing her newborn son.

Amanda who gave birth in the bathroom of a busy sports bar, killed her new born and hid it in the toilet. She was tracked down and arrested after police traced a blood stain the woman left on the booth where she was sitting, it was revealed today.

Amanda Catherine Hein was at Starters Pub near Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, watching pay-per-view wrestling with three friends August 17, when she left and went to the bathroom for about 40 minutes. She returned with blood on her clothes, but insisted she was fine.

I was going to be silent on this sad, pathetic but true (in many shades) allegation against Pastor B and his popular and trendy ministry. My silence was borne out of respect for the kingdom of God and things that pertain to God. EPL: Chelsea sign Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o

Chelsea have boosted their striking options with the signing of veteran Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o from Russia's Anzhi Makhachkala, the Premier League club said on Thursday.

The 32-year-old Eto'o, who has signed a one-year contract, became the second player to join Chelsea from Anzhi following the arrival this week of Brazil playmaker Willian.

"I am very happy to be here but also anxious because I want to get playing as soon as possible," Eto'o told Chelsea's website. "It wasn't a hard decision. I saw the qualities Chelsea have, and I was very happy with Jose Mourinho before, so when the opportunity came, I was very happy to take it.'

North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, publicly executes his ex-girlfriend

On August 8th, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was in the audience to applaud his ex-girlfriend Hyon Song- wol (right), a singer with the Unhasu National Orchestra.

9 days later, a group of artists were arrested accused of 'pornography'. His ex was one of them. They were publicly executed by firing squad on August 20th, while their families were condemned to a labor camp.

The North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un ordered the public execution of his ex-girlfriend Hyon Song- wol, accused of 'pornography' with a group of artists from the National Orchestra of Unhasu, which his current wife Ri Sol -ju also once belonged to. The arrest took place on August 17, the execution took place in public three days later. According to the indictment the women filmed themselves having sex and then sold the videos in China. Some South Korean sources claim that there were many Christians among those sentenced to death who had a Bible at home, a "crime" that you can pay for with your life or imprisonment in a state gulag in North Korea.

A banker who works with EcoBank, Abakaliki branch, Mr. Boniface Ndukaku, was found dead in a hotel after having sex with his 21-year-old girlfriend.

According to Telegraphng, Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Sylvester Igbo, confirmed that the deceased was in the hotel for an extra-marital affair, and that his 21-year-old escort was now in police custody helping them in the investigation of the matter.

Mr. Ndukaku (45), a family man, was a resident of the Army Cantonment in Abakaliki and had taken a 21-year old lady from Mgbowo in Agwu Local government area of Enugu State to a hotel.

The young lady was identified as a 200 level student of Microbiology at the Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu.

London Central Line Tube Train Goes Up In Smoke As Panicked Passengers Struggle To Get Off (Video)

The video above shows the moment terrified London commuters struggled to get off a tube train on the Central Line after it started filling up with smoke, leaving them trapped inside the carriages.

The train was pulling into Holland Park Station when the carriages began to fill up with smoke. The unfortunate incidence was said to have been caused by a brake fault.

In the short video clip shown above passengers are seen frantically attempting to force the doors open while those on the platform try to force the doors open on the other side to let them out. Other commuters at the station can be seen hitting the emergency button to call for help.

Chief Executive Officer of the Young Shall Grow Motors, Chief Vincent Obianodo, narrowly escaped death on Tuesday night, after he was attacked by gunmen in Festac Town, Lagos. His driver and police escort were not so lucky as they were shot dead by the gunmen.

Chief Obianodo was returning from work at about 9 p.m. when the gunmen, numbering five, who drove in a Sport Utility Vehicle intercepted him on 22 Road and opened fire.

His Police orderly, identified as Ngozi Chijioke, was said to have attempted to match the gunmen fire-for-fire. Unfortunately, he was killed. Corporal Chijioke attached to Patrol and Guards of the Lagos State Command reportedly died on the spot.

A senior U.S. official told NBC News that the crisis in Syria is "past the point of no return" and that airstrikes are expected "within days."

The unnamed official made the comments as UN inspectors continue to investigate the use of chemical weapons in an attack near Damascus last week. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has urged the international community to refrain from taking action until the inspectors have concluded their inquiry.

Hollywood couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones’ 13-year marriage is over, it was claimed this week.

De Raufs, a volunteer group extolling the virtues of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Governor of Osun has volunteered to sponsor 15year old stowaway teenager, Daniel Ohikhena, the kid who sensationally hid in the tyre compartment of Arik air flight from Benin to Lagos.

In a statement signed by the Director General of the group, Comrade Amitolu Shittu stated that the group is ready to give scholarship to Daniel up to university level and help him realise his dream of travelling by air legitimately. Shittu said,

“genius and ambitious citizens of our country must not be suffocated on the alter of political and bureaucratic enforcement, the little boy’s ambition should be nurtured through qualitative education, and the group is ready to give the boy all the necessary support to make his dream a reality”.

University of Washington scientists Rajesh Rao (on the left) and Andrea Stocco (on the right) claim that they have been able to demonstrate human brain-to-brain communication, a feat that has only been successfully demonstrated between rats and from human to rats.

A University of Washington press release described the experiment as follows:

The team had a Skype connection set up so the two labs could coordinate, though neither Rao nor Stocco could see the Skype screens. Rao looked at a computer screen and played a simple video game with his mind. When he was supposed to fire a cannon at a target, he imagined moving his right hand (being careful not to actually move his hand), causing a cursor to hit the "fire" button.

Eye witness account states that the gigantic fish (pictured above) washed up on Alpha Beach, Lagos Nigeria.

Earlier on in the month, Lagos state government promptly alerted residents of a possible ocean surge in Lekki beach telling residents of Alpha, Elegushi and Lekki beaches to vacate their houses.

Some residents vacated whilst others did not and as predicted the ocean surged. The picture above shows the gigantic whale that showed up onshore after the surging.

E!Online reports Kate was spotted stocking up on groceries at a local market. This is the first time the new mom has been spotted out and about since she and Prince William left the hospital with the royal baby.
