GERMANY'S LARGEST BABY IS BORN,WEIGHS 13.47 POUNDS(6.01KG)

Baby Jasleen arrived on July 26 and weighed a massive 13.47 pounds(6.01KG). She was born naturally. That is vaginally and not through caesarean section as is usually the case with babies her size. She was delivered at University Hospital in Leipzig and is officially the largest new-born in Germany.

The mother is suspected to have gestational diabetes which may have been the reason for the weight of the baby.

This condition, which develops at around the 24th week of pregnancy, can lead to a larger than usual baby size.

Although both mother and daughter are doing well, Jasleen remains in the neonatal care unit.
