Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg got everyone surprised at his
participation in this year’s annual gay pride parade in San Francisco.
At Sunday’s Pride Parade, Zuck led a giant crew of Facebook
employees, more than 700, through the streets of downtown San Francisco. That’s
more than 300 more employees than Facebook had last year, and more than 10
times as many participants the company sent back in 2011.
Zuckerberg and others in the Facebook contingent used ink
pads and rubber stamps to temporarily brand 'like' onto people's skin as the
250 official parade entries made their way through the heart of San Francisco
on Sunday.

San Francisco’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Pride
Celebration has been held every year since 1972 (under a few different names
over the course of the years). The celebration commemorates the famous
Stonewall Inn rebellion in New York City’s Greenwich Village back in 1969. The
celebration, which culminates in the Pride Parade, is one of the largest LGBT
pride events in the world.
Of course, this year’s Pride Parade had a little bit of
extra significance, considering the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent rulings on the
unconstitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act.DOMA
On that day, Zuckerberg had this to say on Facebook:
“I’m proud that our country is moving in the right direction,
and I’m happy for so many of my friends and their families. #PrideConnectsUs”
About 70 percent of Facebook members in the United States
are connected to a friend who has identified themselves as gay, lesbian, or
bisexual at the social network, according to Facebook's Alex Walker and Robert
D'Onofrio.
