BANKING

BANK CLERK NODS OFF WITH FINGER ON KEYBOARD AND GIVES AWAY £189M

A bank clerk who nodded off at his keyboard during a transaction nearly made a client tens of millions of Great British Pounds richer.

The clerk was making a payment of 64.20 Euros( £54.60) when he fell asleep and left his finger on the number 2 key, accidentally putting through a payment of 22,222,222.22 Euros approx.(£189,682,360).

It was gathered that the supervisor who was assigned to detect such errors failed to do so and authorised the transaction.

Luckily for the bank and the clerk, the mistake was timely spotted by another colleague who managed to correct it before it was too late.

The supervisor was dismissed but the decision was overruled by judges at the labour court in Hesse, Germany where they stated unequivocally that the lady 48,employed in 1986 should have been reprimanded instead, considering the amount of documents she had checked on that day which stood at 812

Today's decision was taken in favour of the lady as the court ordered she be re-employed

We are not sure about the clerk's fate at this time.
