Sasha Obama shows support for gay marriage as first family leave white house for Africa

As the first family departed the White house today for 8 day Africa tour, Sasha Obama, 12 was spotted subtly declaring her support for gay marriage by carrying a tote with rainbow prints. (Tote is a global symbol of gay pride).Although Malia was not seen to carry a tote,in 2012 Obama credited both his daughters with his about turn on gay marriage saying they prompted a change in perspective. Sasha's support comes as DOMA is struck down in Supreme Court today. President Barrack Obama made his feeling about the striking down of DOMA known when he tweeted (see tweet below)

In what has been tagged another historic moment, the First family today embarked upon an eight-day trip to Africa. One of the missions is to revive U.S. engagement with the continent, although that may be overshadowed by the uncertain health of South Africa hero Nelson Mandela.
The Obamas will be visiting Tanzania, Senegal and South Africa. Due to want of security, they may not be visiting Nigeria-Africa’s giant nation.

Michelle Obama has also spoken out in favour of gay marriage, saying: 'In a country where we teach our children that everyone is equal under the law, discriminating against same-sex couples just isn't right'
Whistlestop: The family will visit three countries on the tour, taking in Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania
Jetting out: The president and his family get set to board Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base ahead of their flight to Senegal today
The first stop for Obama, with Malia, 14, will be Senegal's Goree Island, the site of a monument to Africans who were sent to slavery in the Americas
