WARNING: ALCOHOL GUZZLERS READ PATRICIA MURPHY'S STORY

As narrated by MARTHA DE LACEY The recommended maximum intake of alcohol for women is between two and three units a day, and no more than 14 units a week.

So it is little wonder that Patricia Murphy - who drank up to 350 units every week for 25 years - eventually ended up in hospital on a life support machine with cirrhosis of the liver, or that she is now waiting to be told if she'll need a liver transplant.

Patricia, 45, lives in Chessington, Surrey, and has been sober for seven months. Feeling lucky to still be alive, the former sales assistant now wishes to tell her story, hoping to warn other women about the dangers of alcohol, the legal substance which ruined her life.

I just stumbled on a story reported by so many sites all over the internet about a man, Paul Lamb,57, a quadraplegic who just lost his RIGHT-TO-DIE appeal in court.

Paul Lamb is paralysed from the neck down and has been in this state for 23 years after he was involved in a serious road accident. He is immobile except for limited movement in his right hand and has been in significant pain since the 1990 tragedy.

After the hearing in an appeal court, Paul is reported to have said:

'I am absolutely gutted by the decision,' he said. 'I was hoping for a humane and dignified end. This judgment does not give me that. 'I will carry on the legal fight - this is not just about me but about many, many other people who are being denied the right to die a humane and dignified death just because the law is too scared to grapple with these issues.'

Mr Lamb and Jane Nicklinson, the wife of locked-in sufferer Tony, who also was reported to have asked for a Right-to-die permission last year before he died naturally a few weeks after his rejection, were given permission to take their cases to the Supreme Court.

Now this is the argument, should we or should we not be given the right to die, considering the fact that we all have a right to live and its our life anyways.

Policemen attached to the Badagry Police Division, Lagos State, and some hoodlums have been accused of killing a 25-year-old undergraduate of Delta State University, Ifechukwude Nwainokpor, and his friend, identified simply as Kazeem.

An eight-minute video clip of the gruesome killing, which was made available to PUNCH Metro, showed the two victims handcuffed together. They were covered in their own blood and beaten to death with sticks. Tyres were also put round their necks.

An irate mob could be seen in the video, shouting, “die, die, burn them, burn them.”

At some points in the video, a policeman was seen interviewing the boys. He asked who sent them (victims) to rob the area, an accusation they denied. One of the hoodlums, holding a sharp object attempted to cut off the private part of one of the victims.

RUTHLESS TORONTO POLICE OFFICER SHOOTS TEEN 9 TIMES

A boy ,18 has been shot & KILLED by a Toronto Cop in Canada. The 18 year old boy is said to be a Syrian who came to Canada 3 years ago to escape violence and dictatorship in his native country.

He was all by himself in the streetcar, no hostage situation involved, he was only said to be in possession of a pen knife about 4-5 inches long alone in the car. About 8 cops approached the young lad and ordered that he drops the knife but he refused after which they pumped him up with 9 shots that were captured on camera. He was immediately rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

In a statement, Toronto police boss said if officers fear for their lives or that of another,they are permitted to use lethal force.

Baby Jasleen arrived on July 26 and weighed a massive 13.47 pounds(6.01KG). She was born naturally. That is vaginally and not through caesarean section as is usually the case with babies her size.She was delivered at University Hospital in Leipzig and is officially the largest new-born in Germany.

The mother is suspected to have gestational diabetes which may have been the reason for the weight of the baby.

This condition, which develops at around the 24th week of pregnancy, can lead to a larger than usual baby size.

Although both mother and daughter are doing well, Jasleen remains in the neonatal care unit.

Easily dubbed one of the world's richest women,with an estimated worth of about $600M (as at 2012) Nigeria’s billionaire oil tycoon, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija recently acquired four brand new 2013 G-Wagons for her four sons, according to a report by Society Now.

The luxury SUVs were customised for the Alakija boys and quietly brought into the country a few weeks back. Each is said to have cost at least N22mllion equivalent of $137,000 excluding shipping costs.

Mrs Alakija is said to make about $1m daily from her oil business. She also has a real estate portfolio worth over $100 million.

Car bombs ripped through busy streets and markets in Iraq on today, killing at least 60 people in predominantly Shi'ite areas in some of the deadliest violence since Sunni insurgents stepped up attacks this year.

The 17 blasts, which appeared to be coordinated, were concentrated on towns and cities in Iraq's mainly Shi'ite south, and districts of the capital where Shi'ites live.

Militant groups including Al Qaeda have increased attacks in recent months in an insurgency against the Shi'ite-led government as a civil war in neighbouring Syria heightens sectarian tensions.

The violence has raised fears of a return to full-blown inter-community conflict in a country where ethnic Kurds, majority Shi'ites and Sunni Muslims have yet to find a stable way of sharing power

Sharon Osbourne has lashed out at Kanye west saying he is an average man with average talent and should give up his singing career as he is better off selling cars.

Amanda Ross, 41 was out shopping with her partner Paul Dean when she suddenly developed stomach cramp. She went to see her GP after blaming it on constipation and was shocked when a midwife told her she was 7 to 8 months pregnant. Amanda delivered 15 hours after that statement via a caesarean section.

Amanda, who has never been pregnant before, was kept in hospital for six days before being allowed to go home.

She said: ‘I had no idea I was expecting - there’d been no flutters, no cravings, no kicking, no morning sickness, no kicking, nothing.‘We were totally unprepared for a new baby - we hadn’t even got a cotton bud.

Her Stunned husband, Paul, 53, has been with Amanda for 14 years and neither of them work. He is already dad to Andrew, 34, and daughter Jessica, 32.

He said: ‘I thought ‘where the hell did that come from? She’s had no pains or cravings or stomach aches, nothing.

Ecuador international Christian Benitez has been confirmed dead today, Monday 29^th at age 27, by his club, El Jaish.

The former Birmingham, Santos Laguna and Club America striker, nicknamed Chucho, who just completed a £10M move to the Qatari outfit from Club America passed away before making his debut.

Award-winning music video producer Aswad Ayinde, who won an MTV award for directing The Fugees' Killing Me Softly in 1996, has been sentenced to 90 years in prison after a New Jersey court found him guilty of repeatedly raping and impregnating 5 out of his 6 daughters.

The shamed star is said to have engaged in this despicable act simply to create a 'pure' bloodline that would survive Doomsday.

Ayinde, 55, was able to conceal his plot by delivering the babies himself and beating and isolating his daughters by home schooling them, the court heard during his trial.

An obese chef has been told he is too fat to live in New Zealand, even though he has lost 66lb since moving there six years ago.

Albert Buitenhuis, who weighs 20 stone six pounds,(130KG) was told that it may place demands on the New Zealand health services.

He and his wife Marthie are now facing deportation from their Christchurch home and are living with his sister in Auckland as they fight the decision.
New Zealand is the third most obese nation in the developed world, coming behind the US and Mexico.

Huge crowds followed a call to show their support for Egypt's army by turning out for demonstrations on the streets of the country's major cities. Hundreds of thousands flocked to Tahrir Square in the capital Cairo on Friday.

More than 100 people died in clashes as supporters of the ousted President Mohammed Morsi staged counter-demonstrations. Security forces reportedly shot at protesters in the early hours of the morning. Today the city was marked with streaks of blood as field hospitals were packed to their fill with the injured and relatives mourned.

Labros Hydras, an American was on vacation with his family by the sea side when he pulled the hexapus from the sea as he was snorkelling in his native Greece.

Despite being warned by a local chef who refused to help him cook it because it was rare, Labros fried it and ate it, enjoying the rare fish with a slice of tomato and lemon.

After he had had his fill, he decided to check out what the chef had said and soon became sick after realising what he had done. He was shocked to discover how rare the creature was. The father-of-two is now attempting to raise awareness of the creatures.

No-one had ever heard of a six-limbed hexapus until five years ago when one nicknamed Henry was found off the North Wales coast.

I guess now that Labros has delighted his stomach with the only other surviving one, we may just never see “hexapuses” any more.

The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), yesterday, commenced operation of a third train service on the Lagos-Kano rail line lifting over 1000 passengers and their personal effects.

The train left Lagos at 12 noon to Kano after it was unveiled by the corporation’s board chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje.

Regarding the commencement, the NRC managing director, Engr. Adeseyi Sijuwade said:

“Regarding passenger services, we are today increasing the capacity of our train service between Lagos and Kano by this additional train service to complement our current weekly Lagos-Kano-Lagos, Lagos to Illorin/Offa to Kano and Minna to Kaduna intercity trains, and in no time, the frequency of other services, carriage capacity and speed of these services will be stepped up,”

Tina Turner, the 73-year-old music icon (for lovers of good music) tied the knot with her long-term love Erwin Bach at a private ceremony in Switzerland over the weekend. The couple have been together for 27 years after meeting at Heathrow airport.

She wore the perfect wedding dress as she decided against traditional white and opted for something typically glamorous- a green and black silk Armani gown with Swarovski crystals while the female guests wore white and the men were in black tie. The superstar admitted that she wanted to put her own stamp on a traditional American ceremony.

Describing her marriage to Erwin to Hello Magazine, she says 'It's that happiness that people talk about, when you wish for nothing, when you can finally take a deep breath and say, 'Everything is good'. It's a wonderful place to be.'

A pair of conjoined twins have been born in India with two heads but just one body.

The boys' heads, nervous systems and backbones are separate. The backbones are joined below the pelvis and they share a rib cage and shoulder girdle.

Doctors say they believe they can save the lives of the boys who were born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Wednesday.

The disease which is known as Dicephalic Parapagus is very common amongst girls and rare with boys and in a vast majority, children born with this disease are born dead but doctors say there is hope for these ones.

Conjoined twins occur in about one in 100,000 births.

They develop when one fertilised egg fails to separate fully, or the egg separates and then fuses together again inside the womb.

"USAIN BOLT IS MORE ENERGETIC THAN A SPEEDING BULLET"-SCIENTISTS REVEAL

After a detailed study of the Jamaican sprinter's 100m performance during the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, Physicists have announced that Olympic champion Usain Bolt produced 50 times more energy than that of a speeding bullet.

They discovered that he produced a remarkable 81.58kJ of energy - compared to just 1.6kJ of energy a bullet produces when it leaves the barrel of a 0.44 calibre Magnum handgun.

They also calculated that he reached a top speed of 27mph during the race.
But unlike a bullet - which can reach 1,000mph - Bolt's huge 6ft 5ins frame meant more than 92 per cent of his energy was absorbed in battling air resistance.

Bolt reached a maximum power of 2,619.5watts - a horsepower of 3.5 - within 0.89 seconds when he was only at half his maximum speed, which shows the effect the drag had on his acceleration.They made the discovery after taking into account the altitude of the Berlin track, the temperature at the time of the race and the cross-section of Bolt himself.

A Nigerian student in the UK, Ekene Anoliefo ,38, convicted and jailed for rape charges is set for deportation. The rapist, who claimed deporting him from the United Kingdom would breach his human rights, will be sent home to Nigeria after losing an appeal against the order.

Mr Justice Blake said the public interest in getting “dangerous sexual predator” Anoliefo, 38, out of the country far outweighed his right to respect for his private life.

Anoliefo was jailed for 12 years, later reduced to nine, in May 2009 after he was convicted of the brutal rape of a 19-year-old, who he held captive in his car after pretending to help her.

The Nigerian student who is said to be studying Computer studies drove the young woman to his Aberdeen flat, forced her onto his bed and raped her in what the sentencing judge described as “particularly brutal and degrading” circumstances.

37 year old record producer, rapper, DJ and record label executive, Khaled bin Abdul Khaled, better known by his stage name DJ Khaled has asked Nicki Minaj to marry him on a MTV show.

He says:

“I want to be honest with you. I love you. I like you. I want you to be mine. The only reason I’m not telling you this face to face is because I know that you’re busy. You need a man like me in your life that’s gonna take care of you and respect you. You gotta take your time and think about it, I understand… but I know I have to be here today to let you know how serious I am and about how serious this is to me. I want to let your fans know, my fans know, my family, your family, that I wanna marry you. I been working hard to get this ring… Nicki Minaj… will you marry me?’

A Nigerian student found guilty of trafficking 6.25kg of cannabis three years ago,has been sentenced to death by Shah Alam, the High Court in Malaysia yesterday.

Ugonna Philip Nwankwo, 29, was charged with two counts of drug trafficking.

The first charge was for distributing 4.85kg of cannabis at a bus stop in front of a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya at 1pm on Nov 9, 2010.

The second was for distributing 1.4kg of cannabis at No. 4, Jalan SS12/2D, Bandar Baru Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, at 3pm on the same day.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday challenged Nigerians in Diaspora to be agents of change, development and proponents of national economic emancipation and unity and that they should invest in the proposed Centenary City by building

Declaring open the 6th Nigeria Diaspora Day celebration in Abuja, the president also urged them to respond positively to the invitation to return and contribute to the development Nigeria.

Represented by Vice-President Namadi Sambo, the president enjoined them to become a part of the nation’s collective efforts in building a better future for present and future generations of Nigerians.

“The task of taking Nigeria to the pinnacle of development comparable to the major industrialised nations is a task for all of us, not least Nigerians in Diaspora.

Nigeria’s Business mogul and Africa's richest entrepreneur and Chairman, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, will in September be honoured with Hall of Grace’s Pride of Africa Award in Lagos as reported by Nigeria’s Vanguard online.

The Managing Custodian, Hall of Grace Awards, Rupert Ojenuwa, disclosed this during a briefing in Lagos.

He said the award, which is aimed at rewarding excellence and contribution to nation building, would also recognize other Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in different spheres of life including entrepreneurship, entertainment and philanthropy.

Swedish MP accidentally posts picture of his genitals on Instagram while trying to show off his Liverpool FC tattoo

A Swedish politician who wanted to show his new tattoo to followers on a social media site accidentally revealed far more than he intended.

Mr Lars Ohly, a former leader of Sweden's Left Party, and supporter of Liverpool Football Club, posted a picture of the liver bird tattooed on his leg.

What he failed to notice was that his genitals were visible in the background.

Mr Ohly quickly removed the picture after posting it on Instagram, but couldn't stop the avalanche of comments in social media.

Mr Ohly made light of the embarrassment and said he would be more careful when he posts online.

'Ha, ha, I accidentally posted a picture on Instagram that showed more than intended,' he said, according to the AFP. 'Now corrected.'

In an interview with website The Local, Mr Ohly proved said “I have had lots of nice reactions'.

He later wrote: 'Oh, how many new followers I've got on Instagram today (and how disappointed they're going to be).'

DAME PATIENCE JONATHAN, NIGERIA'S FIRST LADY RETURNS HOME TO MOURN LATE MOTHER.

Mrs Dame Patience Jonathan, Nigeria's first lady returned home yesterday night, from a trip to Geneva to mourn her late foster mother. The first lady lost her foster mother on Monday July 22nd in a fatal auto accident on her way to Bayelsa. She was received by the president, the president's mother, Tony Anenih, Abdusalami Abubakar and many other dignitaries at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Our hearts are with her.May the soul of the departed rest in peace.
