CHILD MARRIAGE:"Age Of Puberty Is Not Defined By The Age Of The Girl But By The Nature Of Her Body"-Senator Yerima(WATCH FULL INTERVIEW)

Just in case you missed it, Senator Ahmed Yerima was on Channels TV yesterday,Sunday, 25th August,2013 by 9pm to talk about or defend his views on child marriage.

When asked what the age of puberty is, he stated that:
"Age of puberty cannot be defined by the age of a girl, but by the nature of her body. In otherwords if a girl grows breasts and starts menstruating at the age of 9, she is considered to have attained the age of puberty and ripe for marriage".
Dear reader, generally speaking, in your own view what do you think the age of puberty is? Is it the age at which a girl starts menstruating or is there a standard age laid down by law to be considered as the ‘age of puberty’. The issue of being“ripe for marriage”  that he added is clearly ridiculous, but comment objectively, is there truly a stated age for puberty?

I hear he has 28 children. One is 16 years old and he's giving her out in marriage on the 6th of September, 2013.(unconfirmed)
