NIGERIAN ARMY RELEASES TELEPHONE (GSM) LINES AND EMAIL ADDRESSES TO CITIZENS TO BATTLE TERRORISM

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Azubuike Ihejirika
The Nigerian Army has released several GSM numbers and e-mail addresses that will enable Nigerian citizens reach out to the force in the ongoing campaign against terrorism.

The Directors of Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, who stated this at a briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, urged the citizens to contribute to the campaign by giving information to the Nigerian Army Information Alert System.

The objective of the initiative, he said, was to aid the Army as well as other security agencies in overcoming the threat of terrorism in the country.

He said, “Once more, let me assure all Nigerians that the Army will remain agile and proactive by continually enhancing her capability to preempt, dislocate, and disrupt the terrorism threat”.
“This will be achieved through effective collaboration with other security agencies in order to defeat terrorists and other criminal elements and ensure the safety of lives and property of law abiding citizens.
“To this end, the Army calls for the support of all good citizens in its fight against terrorism by providing information through the NA alert system.”
Attahiru added that the force was taking proactive measures to ensure that terrorism did not spread to other parts of the country.

He explained that the recent arrest of suspected terrorists in Lagos was a confirmation of the vigilance and determination of Nigerians to prevent the scourge from spreading in the country.
He promised that the force would embark on a constant review of its “strategies toward greater sophistication in tackling the security challenges facing the country.”

He also said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Azubuike Ihejirika, had commenced implementation of the Freedom of Information Act as enshrined in the FoI Act of 2011.
Attahiru said the Army had opened an office for the FoI Act to give the public access to the operations of the service.

The numbers are 08160030300, 0705333123 and 08191555888 while the e-mail addresses are: nigerianarmytips@yahoo.com, nigerianarmytips@gmail.com, and nigerianarmytip@hotmail.com.
